Magical Night - March Progress

I thought I'd posted at the end of February. Oh well. I must have been too carried away with whatever I was doing at the time, probably trying to stay cool or hoping for rain.

So March has come and gone and with it came some lovely rain. The grass around here is gorgeously green which is very pleasing to the eye. During March we also had a couple of 4.6 earth tremors/quakes/whatever. They were rather exciting at the time. No damage and just a little bit of shaking as they did not last long. The cat was rather freaked out by the first one. Poor fellow jumped off my lap and ran for his life and stood in the doorway.

But not to worry, that's all part of life. Magical Night is also part of my life and here is the progress to the end of March.

It's coming along slowly but well. I haven't been stitching very much at all. When I do sit down to stitch I don't stitch for long but that will have to change if I am to finish this sometime this year. So I'd better get cracking and have much more to show for my efforts during April.

Some Magical Night Progress

Hi! Long time no see!

Magical Night is over halfway. Yay! I'm up to the half with all the bright colours. It has to go quicker now, right? Well, regardless, I am still halfway and that is something to celebrate and today marks the 5th anniversary since the start of this piece. That is not something to celebrate but I am aiming to finish it well before the 10th anniversary. LOL!

And in other news, I am over summer. I have had enough. I am seriously, very seriously, contemplating moving to the bottom of the South Island of New Zealand. Seriously, I am. Now if only I could get DH to agree ...

And so this is

2009!!!!!!

Crikey! Where did 2008 go? One minute it was here, the next minute gone forever.

I haven't posted much recently, mostly because I've not been stitching. I haven't touched any stitching since midway through December when I finished off an ornament to send to a friend. Prior to that I had been working on Magical Night. It had to go away over Christmas so little fingers could not touch it. It also had to go away because my mother came to stay and she took over my stitching chair so everything was moved. She's now moved on to the next sibling but the stitching is yet to return to its proper place.

It will do so soon. In the meantime I leave you with my stitching stats for last year.

Starting number of WIPs for 2008 = 23
New starts for 2008 = 2
Completed in 2008 = 11
Total number of WIPs at end of 2008 = 14

All in all, a great result. This year I am hoping to continue the trend and get those WIPs right down and maybe start some new ones.

I hope you all enjoyed your New Year celebrations. We celebrated with my sister, her family and their friends in the Yarra Valley last night. It was a great night though a tad cool.

I hope 2009 will be a great year for each and every one of us.

End of September update

Not a lot of stitching happened in September but I did finish one project and work on two other projects so not too bad an outcome.

The finish was Dragon Dreams' Blackwork Princess stitched with Dinky-Dyes silks on white Jobelan. The use of the two different colours, particularly the variegated, was inspired by Caronslilies who is a regular poster on some of the stitching boards.

I also progressed Peacock Cypher as well as the previous post mentioned The Name of God.

Here is Peacock Cypher for your viewing pleasure. It's stitched on the appropriately named Peacock Fantasy from Stitches & Spice.

And now it's Twoctober. October and TW = Twoctober - yet another feature of one of the stitching boards and a great idea. I am hoping for some excellent progress on my one remaining Teresa Wentzler project, Magical Night.

For those of you who've not yet seen this

I have posted this elsewhere but forgot to post here. That was a tad slack of me. Woodland Fairie was completed in August. It's great to have another big one finished. She was stitched on 28ct hand-dyed Lugana from the original owner of Countrystitch. I wish every fabric was as lovely to work with.

Since working on her I've worked on The Name of God (sorry no pic here) and am currently working on, and trying to finish, Blackwork Princess.

And that's all from me. See you all next time.

The end of July is nigh

and so it is. Just a couple of days to go and we'll be in to August. My how time flies!

And here is my latest Woodland Fairie progress.

I did much better this month than the previous one. The new specs are fantastic. I can see. Wheeeeee!

I will be continuing with Woody during August. I'm managing at least an hour, sometimes two, on her each night so she'll soon be done. The dress is nearly complete but I do need to buy another skein of 3827 because I don't think I have enough to finish. I'll probably miss it by one lousy strand. But not to worry as it will give me a chance to see what Spotlight has on offer in their End of Season Sale. I'm not sure what season it is the end of because last time I looked it was still the middle of winter.

So until next time, which may well be when I finish this beauty, have fun!

Woodland Fairie progress report

Not much to report actually as I didn't get all that much done on her but there is visible progress and that's the best kind. She must be close to halfway by now so it's all downhill from here. LOL!

But now that I have my new glasses I should be able to progress her and my other WIPs much faster. It's amazing how much better you can see out of glasses that do not have scratched lenses.

I'm going to be continuing on her this month.

Here's a report of my half year statistics for 2008.

I started the year with 23 WIPs
I added 1
I finished 8
That leaves me with 16 WIPs

That's pretty good despite the stitching blahs and what not.
